Hawaii Happy Cats, Inc. - Compassion for Abandoned Cats!
How can I help community cats?
Cats are misunderstood animals. How can we help them, and in turn, help ourselves and our community? It is very simple!

The first step to helping community cats is feeding them near your home or in safe areas of your community. If you can, feeding cats at night is best so there is less traffic and human disruptions. The cats will start to come regularly to the feeding area. They will no longer have to search for food out of the garbage cans.

The next step to helping community cats is participating in a program called Trap/Neuter/Return/Manage, or T/N/R/M(For a description of this program, see the T/N/R/M page.) You could trap the cat yourself or call for help. There are a few organizations that provide free trapping services or will loan you the trap with some helpful tips. A few organizations are Hawaiian Humane Society, Cat Friends, Alleycat Allies, and Animal Care Foundation. Once the cat is trapped, he/she will be spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, and returned to the very same location where they are familiar with the area. This is the only humane and compassionate method of controlling the stray cat overpopulation. The T/N/R/M program is a success but we will need everyone’s help and understanding for its continued success. Spread the word about the T/N/R/M program.
If you want to be involved in these steps of feeding and participating in T/N/R/M, become one of our feral cat colony volunteers or managers!
